Summary: This lecture will provide the history of iodine in medicine. Furthermore, this talk will provide information about where iodine is found in food and in the environment. Iodine deficiency is affecting a large segment of the population. This talk will discuss how to test for and recommend iodine supplementation. The attendees should be able to order the appropriate tests for iodine, interpret them and recommend the appropriate amounts of iodine for maintaining iodine sufficiency.
